Welcome back everyone, today we're gonna talk about one of the most frequently talked about subjects but is different for everyone. Skincare! The one thing that all skincare has in common is that it needs to be consistent, and consistency means developing the right routine for you. Before I share anything with all of you I had to develop a routine that worked best for me.

If you have problems with textured skin and haven't found solutions to your problems then I am here to share all the goodies.

Now just a little background on my skin, I have never really had a problem with really bad acne (aH) and I only wear makeup occasionally. I have normal to dry skin however, I do happen to have blemish-prone skin and do have problem areas like my forehead and my cheekbones. I also struggle with getting rid of the scars due to hyperpigmentation, which I will talk about later.

The texture of your skin defines everything about your face. Texture irregularities is one of my biggest concerns when it comes to having clear and healthy. What that means is there were a million little bumps on my face. From a distance, it looked like I have clear skin but unfortunately, that is not the case, and when I wear makeup it just extenuates it and makes it look worse.

I will start by sharing my skincare routine in the order I do it.

1. First, I start by making sure I never sleep with makeup on and wash my face with the CeraVe Renewing SA Cleanser, which has salicylic acid. Let me put you guys on to CeraVe if you haven't already tried it out.

2. After that, I will go in with an oil eliminating astringent from Neutrogena which is similar to a toner but has 2% salicylic acid that is great for textured skin! That is what changed my skin instantly.

3. Then, I go in with a moisturizer also from CeraVe a SA Lotion for Rough & Bumpy Skin, which has both lactic acid and salicylic acid. I believe that this moisturizer also is what made a huge difference on my skin. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0071XPQQ2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (One thing I do wanna say about moisturizers is that even if you have oilier skin you still have to moisturize because your skin is essentially producing more oils because it thinks that it needs more hydration.)

4. Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!!! Sun damage can cause uneven skin texture, rough, dry and dull skin. Applying an SPF (sun protection factor) is a crucial part of my skincare routine. Not only because the sun is so damaging to the skin but chemical exfoliants increase the sensitivity of your skin, so the skin must stay protected from the sun so that it does not get damaged or else you're reversing all of the work that you just put in. SPF is your best friend if you suffer from hyper-pigmentation. Those of us like myself that deal with scars and dark spots have to apply an SPF every day to get rid of the scars sooner rather than later because without a sunscreen the sun will make those spots darker and harder to get rid of. And yes, black people need to wear sunscreen too, we must protect that beautiful melanin of ours.

5. For facials and face masks I like to keep things simple and natural, ingredients that I can get right out of my kitchen. My go-to face mask is turmeric mix with yogurt, honey, and lemon. This face mask does wonders for hyperpigmentation and dark circles. I occasionally exfoliate my skin but when I do I use brown sugar mixed with honey and it leaves my face super smooth!

***Getting a silk pillowcase has made a significant difference to my skin and hair! My skin has completely changed. Even though my skin is not acne-prone, it is blemish-prone and I would always have bumps on the side of my face that were always in the same area. In addition to that, they would leave dark pigmentation and I had no idea what I was doing wrong. However, as soon as I got the silk pillowcase the bumps completely went away immediately. It is honestly a game-changer, 10/10 recommend!! Link to the pillowcase I use! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CXQZNC8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Remember to be patient and consistent with all there products but do not overdo it! I hope these tips were helpful!
